Srinagar, Aug 08 (KNO): Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Saturday urged people of Kashmir especially the heads of all Masjid committees to form a Covid committee in each locality and to collect donations in the name of Covid fund to help poor patients who can’t afford treatment of the deadly virus.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mufti Nasir said that since there seems to be no end to the pandemic in Kashmir and reports are pouring in continuously that poor people are not able to treat themselves after falling prey to the virus. “I appeal to heads of all the Masjid committees across Kashmir to keep a particular portion of masjids ready for Covid Quarantine Centers and to raise funds in the name of Covid fund for the treatment of poor people,” he said.

He said that each locality in Kashmir must have Covid-19 fund and Covid committee who can cater to the needs of Covid patients, who aren’t able to get themselves treated because of poverty. “Many people are dying for want of oxygen in hospitals. My request to the people and heads of masjid committees is to keep stock of oxygen cylinders available at masjids and to keep a particular portion of each masjid for Quarantine Centre for poor patients as situation seems to be getting worse,” Grand Mufti said—(KNO)
